Surescripts certifies Stratford Software for ePrescribing new prescriptions and refill requestsProviders who now use the Stratford program are able to transmit prescriptions electronically to pharmacies connected to the Surescripts network. No upgrade to the software is required. This is part of the basic Stratford program just like billing, EDI, scheduling, EMR and all the other features. Stratford has no additional charges for 'add-ons'. You must be using
Stratford Software version 9.4 build 6404 or later. There are a few additional requirements in order to use the ePrescription screens: 1. The provider/prescriber must be able to legally prescribe medications. (Stratford cannot help you with this) 2. The provider/prescriber must have an internet connection on the computer that is used to prescribe. 3. The provider/prescriber must download updates to the FDA drug listing and the pharmacy listing every 30 days or less. All you do is click one button on the Stratford software screen. That will connect your computer to the Stratford web site and download the updates. That usually takes less than one minute. There is no additional charge for this. We are aware that most other software vendors charge additional for this service. We have no plans to charge anything additional for this service. Surescripts certification notice Surescripts Prescription Routing Services Allows prescribers to manage the transmission of prescription information while using Stratford Software.
Question: ok, I want to try it out and see if I like your program. How do I get started? Answer: the first step is to make sure you have an Internet connection. The second step is to follow the tutorial in the manual. It will walk you through the process of: 1. make sure you have a connection to the Stratford staging server 2. log into the trial account, enter a provider/prescriber 3. transmit a prescription. 4. the Stratford staging server will automatically send you a refill request for the new prescription you sent. You can respond to that refill request in many ways. Use the trial account with your real information if you want. It will not interfere in any way when you go 'live' with your production data. Be sure you do not try this in your real account until you have discussed it with Stratford support. Additional questions that we have been asked by our clients: Question: If I transmit my prescriptions with the Stratford program will I qualify for the Medicare eRx incentive program? Answer: No one at Stratford is qualified to answer this. You must read the rules and determine that for yourself. Here is a link to a document that may help you: http://www.cms.gov/MLNProducts/downloads/2009-ERX-Booklet.pdf and also this section of the CMS weg site: http://www.cms.gov/ehrincentiveprograms/ Your Medicare contractor support person may be able to help you also. Note that these links may not work if CMS changes their web pages. You should be able to find working links by using eRx incentive programs in your 'Google' search. We have tested the Stratford program by transmitting one of the HCPCS G-codes and one of the eRx G-codes in the same claim according to the instructions on page 9 of the PDF booklet in the link above and it seems to create a valid claim. Of course, only your Medicare contractor can tell you for sure. We would appreciate your feedback on results that you get and links to other information that we can give to all our clients.
