Vista installation -special procedures that are necessary if you use the old (but still supported) dos version.In the past, the Stratford program was able to make these changes (in most cases) without the user having to do anything. Unfortunately, Microsoft put in more 'security features' to make your computer more difficult to use. Here is how you can increase the number of 'files' in the config.nt file. In Windows Vista, in order to modify any system-protected files you must take ownership of the file.
1. Double Click the 'Computer' icon on the desktop. 2. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32 3. Right-click on Config.nt and select properties:
Click on the Security tab and select the Advanced button:
Select the Owner tab:
Click on the Edit... button: Select the current user who will be taking ownership of the item and click OK.
If ownership has been successfully changed, you will get the following message:
Now you can edit Config.nt using Notepad and change to Files=99.
